To the adherents of the Sixth Declaration and the Other Campaign:
Compas:
As you surely know already, the Encounter of the Indigenous Peoples of America
will be held on the days 12, 13, and 14 of the month of October of the current
year. As decided by the Organizing Commission of the Encounter, formed by the
traditional authorities of the Yaqui tribe, the
National Indigenous Congress, and the Sixth Commission of the EZLN, persons,
groups, collectives, and organizations invited by the Organizing Commission can
participate as observers, without voice or decision-making capacity. Based on
that agreement, and with the approval of traditional authorities of the Yaqui tribe, all of our compañer@s
adherents of the Sixth Declaration and the Other Campaign are invited to
attend.
This letter is then our invitation to you to accompany our indigenous compañer@s in the Other Campaign in their upcoming
encounter in October. In the last few years, in this process of the
construction of another way of doing politics that we are trying to carry
forward, throughout the country and on various occasions and in various spaces,
we have met, indigenous and non-indigenous, to listen and tell each other of
our problems and our resistances. Now we ask you to attend the Encounter of
Indigenous Peoples of America with your ear and heart open, to listen and to
learn what the original peoples of these lands have to say. We know that you
will honor this and that your behavior
will be an example of respect and comradeship.
